I joined on a monthly basis attempting to help my mom get healthier by going to the gym with her. I explained I was already a member at NYSC and just wanted to get my mom started. During a yoga class with the lights off, my mom and I signed contracts. 3 months after joining, I moved to Westchester and tried to cancel my membership. I was told I had to pay a free of $100 for every month I had been going. I explained the situation, that when I joined I was under the impression I signed up for a monthly membership, and the woman told me that I should’ve read the contract. I was disgusted! I called curves corporate and was told it is a corporate policy to charge a cancellation fee of $100 TOTAL! Corporate instructed MV curves to contact me twice, but I never got a call. This is not about money, it is about principal- about signing me up for something in the dark and then telling me I should have read the contract- about not calling me back and acting like I was just a revenue stream.
